

Aircraft mechanic jobs are more complex than regular mechanic ones so extensive training is required first in order to secure one. Candidates must obtain the appropriate licence in order to work on airframes or powerplants.
In order to be eligible to apply for aircraft mechanic jobs, candidates must complete 18 months of practical hands-on experience and pass a number of demanding examinations. This must be monitored and confirmed by approved personnel. Reaching this stage is only possible after completing an approved training programme beforehand at an aircraft maintenance college.
Most trainees applying for aircraft mechanic jobs become A&P mechanics. This involves working on the whole plane with the exception of one key area, namely the instrument panel. This is a specialised field known as avionics. Jobs in this field as specialised and involve a different programme to qualify in this area. A career in avionics demands a different skill set as mechanics in this field must repair navigation and weather systems, along with computers.
As technology advances the demand for mechanics with these skills is set to sky rocket. For those with the right qualifications there will be many aircraft mechanic jobs in this field.
